THIS IS YOU

As a  Duty Manager it is your duty to supervise all floor activities including assisting visitors and monitoring Junior Duty Managers and floor crew. The Duty Manager plays a key role in the efficient and effective operation of Moco Museum. This position oversees the day-to-day activities of the museum, ensuring the highest standards of visitor experience, crew management, and facility maintenance. The Duty Manager collaborates closely with various departments to coordinate operations and enhance the overall functionality of the museum.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Visitor Experience:

  • Ensure a high level of customer service and visitor satisfaction by supervising operations, including ticketing, information desks, and visitor services.

  • Monitor visitor flow and address any issues or concerns to enhance the visitor experience.

  • Oversee the implementation of visitor engagement initiatives and special events to promote interaction with exhibits and programs.

  • On duty as a guided tour when necessary.

Staff Management:

  • Provide leadership, guidance and training to help maintain a positive work environment and uphold service standards.

  • Deliver the daily operation brief to allocate duties and responsibilities to the floor crew to ensure smooth operation and adherence to museum policies and procedures.

  • Execute the bi-annual performance appraisals of floor crew

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations of the crew, provide constructive feedback and address any performance issues in collaboration with the General Manager.

  • Establish the agenda of the weekly DM meetings and the monthly DM alignment meetings.

  • Establish weekly meetings with the HR Business Partner for organisational effectiveness, promote a positive work environment, enhance employee satisfaction and enforce HR policies.

Operations Coordination:

  • Coordinate daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, and facility maintenance tasks (incl. cleaning).

  • Liaise with other museum departments, such as exhibitions, marketing and facilities to ensure seamless coordination of activities and events.

  • Implement and enforce health and safety protocols to ensure a safe environment for visitors and staff.

  • Monitors the premises indoor and outdoor cleaning, ensures follow-up and reports on cleanliness.

Emergency Response:

  • Act as a key point of contact during emergency situations, such as evacuations, medical emergencies, or security incidents.

  • Implement emergency response procedures and coordinate with relevant authorities to ensure the safety and security of all individuals within the museum premises.

  • Organize the safety protocol training.

If applicable, back-office duties may be offered:

The appointed Duty Manager is responsible for important back-office duties including:

  • The monthly rooster update to ensure optimal operation of the museum

  •  All purchases for the office and kitchen (office supplies and groceries) of the museum

  • Company clothing selection, order and distribution

  • Liaison with Human Resources Dept. to implement and support recruitment and employment contracts

  • Weekly liaison with Security Manager to ensure safety and security of the museum,

  • Weekly liaison with Marketing and Communication Dept for coordination of partnerships, promotions, sales and discounts,

  • Weekly liaison with Finances Dept for updates on budget, bonus and expenses,

  • Elaboration and updates of procedures and processes required to operate Moco Museum, i.e. crew manual, lost & found manual,  etc.


REQUIREMENTS
  • At least 2 years of experience in operations, process management, service management, or a related role, ideally within a startup or early-stage business
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on building and motivating teams
  • Fluency in English is required
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with an ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to problem-solving
  • Flexible schedule, including availability on weekends and holidays
  • Knowledge of art and design is a plus but not a must
  • Degree-level education
